Bridal Weight Loss: Kettlebells & Dieting

Print Friendly

Whether you’re in love with the couture or casual wedding dress styles, it’s a given that you must look absolutely gorgeous on your wedding day. There are a million quick weight loss plans and bridal bootcamp solutions for women just like you who are looking to tone up and look phenomenal on what should be the biggest day of your lives. Unfortunately, lousy programs run amok, many of which are looking to squeeze every dollar out of your hand simply because they know eager brides are too gullible to really do the research.

Kettlebell training is the number one way to lose weight in time for your wedding. Whether your goal is to lose 5 or 50 pounds, with a solid plan and committed work ethic, kettlebell training is an honest, solid fitness program that will give you a flatter, sexier stomach, strong feminine physique and even a tighter, rounder tush to show off on your Punta Cana honeymoon.

Kettlebell training is effective because it requires use of your entire body through most of your workout routines. As your body forces itself to remain within its center of gravity while using the kettlebell, you’ll engage your core muscles, giving you better posture and a whittled stomach. The dynamic movement of kettlebell exercises also enforces the use of real-world movements, so you’ll develop functional strength to lift and move things (like new furniture for the house you plan to move into) and enjoy more stamina and endurance (great for those honeymoon nights). Kettlebells are also excellent for sculpting beautiful arms for that strapless wedding gown of your dreams.

Now, I know women are largely concerned about strength training programs that bulk them up. Don’t worry, kettlebells are not meant to give you the brawny, masculine beefhead look you’re probably scared of acquiring, nevermind the fact that genetically, women aren’t naturally equipped to bulk up in this fashion.

Expect kettlebell fitness routines to instead give you graceful, lean, elongated muscles with an extremely powerful level of strength rarely encountered in other fitness programs. You’ll have the body of a dancer with the strength of a Spartan, but unless you really want to, it’s very unlikely that you’ll become a meathead whose biceps are bigger than her fiance’s.

Kettlebell Wedding Workouts for Brides

I’m assuming that you haven’t used, much less heard of kettlebells prior to this article, and therefor are a beginner. My recommendation is that you search for an RKC or IKFF kettlebell trainer who is certified in kettlebell fitness. Working with a trainer as soon as possible helps you get off on the right foot when it comes to using a kettlebell, helping you prevent chances for injuries that come from poor form and kettlebell misuse.

Your kettlebell trainer isn’t required the entire duration of your bridal weight loss routine. You can work with him/her until you’re comfortable using the kettlebell on your own, and then work on creating routines based on your specific needs.

If you’re completely against the idea of hiring a trainer, check out Enter the Kettlebell, which is an extremely detailed and thorough fitness program and kettlebell exercise guide by Pavel Tsatsouline of Dragon Door. Enter the Kettlebell is the program of choice for anyone serious about making an impact on their weight loss journey with kettlebells. In addition to being highly detailed, Enter the Kettlebell is also available with a companion DVD that helps you perfect your form like a personal trainer would.

Bridal Weight Loss: Nutrition & Diet

Trust me, you don’t have to rely on bridal shapewear alone to look great on your wedding day. Weight loss and maintenance is 80% what you eat, so the saying goes. Remember to improve your bridal weight loss efforts by optimizing your eating and nutritional habits. Whether your desire is to look beautiful just for the wedding and honeymoon, or on a more permanent scale, incorporating healthier eating habits is a boon to your program that will last far beyond your special day if you’re consistent and focused. Drink plenty of water, incorporate fresh, leafy greens that are rich in color and swap trans-fatty foods for those with natural mono-saturated fats enhanced with fresh herb flavors.

I love kettlebells! I can't think of any other exercise regimen I've tried that would kick your butt into shape faster! I would like to recommend "From Russia With Tough Love" - also from Pavel, but geared towards women. I first learned how to do it following that tape - then I went and got certified through Pavel's course. Another trainer I highly recommend is Sarah Lurie from Iron Core Kettlebells - she breaks down so any beginner can follow along and still get a great workout, and she also incorporates body moves. Lisa Shaffer from No Fear Fitness is also very good about breaking the moves down to where any beginner can get it quickly.

I forgot to mention both Sara and Lisa were trained by Pavel Tsatsouline, and that Pavel is the one responsible for bringing kettlebells to the US and making them popular.

Thanks for sharing your insight about kettlebells. I train 4x/week at the gym and I tend to ignore the significance/importance of kettlebells. After reading this article and understanding that it involves a whole array of muscles throughout the entire body, I'll definitely view it in a higher light.

I definitely need to get on the ball with the kettlebell workout, not so much for losing weight but definitely to tone up. The wedding dress I have my eye on is strapless - so I want my shoulders and arms to be very sexy!

Kettlebells sounds like a great way to look great without bulking up, now eating less would be my problem lol
